I'm just glad that all the series aren't going to be sweeps. Those are the worst!

I think we're now seeing that goalies are making a bigger difference than some thought. I think the rangers, Devils, Canucks, and Detroit all can win because they all have the better goalies!

Does Buffalo feel they are entitled to be in the Stanley Cup finals this year? If they continue to play this unispired brand of hockey, giving only 50% on each shift, they are going to be eliminated by a FAR inferior club... The Rangers outskated, outworked, and out-emotioned the Sabres yesterday... Lindy Ruff exhibited more "balls" in his post game tirade the other night than his team did on the ice for 90 minutes Sunday... They used the "injury" excuse following last year's elimination to Carolina... What garbage can they fall back on if the Rags take em' out? "We got EVERY call from the officials?" Ain't gonna fly, boys...

1) First with regard to Loyd: We too don't like lop sided contests/series.
2) Vlad: Yes, we figured you'd appear when the devils, Rangers and Canucks won a game. LOL Seriously though, we never discounted your point/opinion about the importance of goaltending. We too have mentioned that it is 90% or more of the game right now. BUT it is NOT 100%!! All things being equal (and for the most part all the goalies left are topnotch) its the better skating teams that will ultimately prevail
3) Antz: Yes, Buffalo has been a bit of a playoff enigma. They would seem to have 4 scoring lines, a great goalie (For Vlad) and good mobile defense. They even seemed to have received most of the close/controversial calls in both their series so far. yet, they are NOT dominating either the islanders or Rangers. That said they did beat the isles in 5 and very well may do the same to the rangers. If they advance they better be prepared to step it up a few notches else either the Devils or Senators will skate right by them while their 'waiting to get their legs'

Well I disagree with Vlad that Detroit has the better goalie than SJ. Hasek at his peak is better than Nabokov, however the 42-year-old Hasek, while still a very compatent goalie is not as good as the In-his-prime Nabokov currently in between the pipes.

I agree Bwash! Id take Hasek in his prime over Nabby in his prime, but at 42 Haseks prime has passed him by and Nabby is the better goalie today.

I will use the game tonight as exhibit A.

1) We'll let Vlad speak for himself, but we don't feel that goaltending was/is the difference in the Detroit-SJ series. Both are playing well
2) We feel the difference is/will be the offensive depth and skating ability of the Sharks. The Wings are no slouches in those departments, but the Sharks are that much better in our opinion, and that should make the difference in the series.

Thank you for letting me speak for myself faux. I don't think nabokhov is the better goalie even now, BUT I will give him credit for winning their game last night. Again, the team that gets the edge in net, wins, Every time!
Emery out dueled Brodeur somehow as well. Look for Lundqvist and Luongo to shine this evening!

I will agree that the SJ/Detroit series is pretty even in the Goaltending Department. I just think Nabokov is a little better currently.

That being said, Hasek is not the reason the Red Wings are losing the series, or the game last night. Nabokov was better, but for all the talk of Detroit being a great puck-possesion team, San Jose really took it at them last night.
