1) So much for the quiet dog days. LOL We were called early yesterday evening from a reliable source who mentioned that the NY Islanders may be closing in on a deal to 'bolster their roster'. The source did NOT have all the specifics right now other than that its a Western conference team involved and there could be as many as 4 players and or picks involved in the deal.
2) He did mention the name Chris Campoli as part of any deal that is in the delicate stages as we write this. Surprisingly also the name Trent Hunter was brought up. We know he is headed to arbitration, but it seemed as early as yesterday that both sides were working on a long term deal. Of course that does NOT mean he is in the deal, only that his name has been broached.
3) What are the Isles needs? Well for sure a veteran defensemen. No confirmation if the Coyotes are about to move Morris to the Isles for a package that may of may not include Campoli and/or Hunter. If we were Garth Snow we'd be looking to peddle Satan and his bloated salary. This can still fall apart before its consummated. We will stay on top of this story as it continues to develop. Now back to the dog days. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Right now Phoenix needs to add salary to even get to the cap floor! I can see them looking to get a guy like Satan. Campoli was up and down last year. He's only like 22 or something like that.
If Morris is involved and the isles manage to give them satan the Coyotes wouldn't be adding too much salary/ It'll b einteresting to see what they do to get to 34 million. Right now the sites say they have a team payroll of about 21 mil. I also read lots of rumors that they are trying to trade Jovanovski. If they do they will really need to add payroll. Jovo gets like 7 mil!
Not exactly breaking news but thanks for the update. Many hockey sites reported on the weekend that Campoli had disappeared from the Islanders online roster and I am sure this is what has prompted the "Trade Imminent" discussion out there! The Islanders have bolstered their forward lines quite well, but don't seem to have anyone to play defense yet.
Look for them to move a forward and land a Dman or two.
I can't speak for the validity of the rumor here, but i can tell you all this nonsense about the mysterious disappearence of Campoli from the web site is a bunch of bullshit. The Islanders only have players who are curently under contract listed there. Campoli is a RFA so he isn't on there right now.
1) Wow, we sign off for a few minutes and bam we get 3 quick responses in succession! LOL
2) Lloyd: We agree with your Phoenix outlook. They seem to be in need of a whole lot. We can see them finishing dead last. They may be the first team that will be prevented from making a trade because it will cause them to go UNDER the cap floor!
3) Shuck: Nice to have ya back. Hadn't heard until just now that other 'hockey sites' had mentioned Campoli missing from the isles web site.
4) Thanks for Trotz19 for clearing up that confusion. Our info had nothing to do with that or any other 'hockey site'. No updates to relay on that front right now. All's quiet at the moment. (too quiet?) ; )
lol!
Aren't your readers allowed to take holidays too? Geesh!
Doesn't look like I missed a whole lot anyways!
So when is this trade gonna happen? I'm still waiting for that Marleau trade. Is that one still on too?
OUCH! That has to sting!
1) Nice to see ya again Victor. Yes, in fact Marleau discussions ARE on going. We mentioned it several times. Most recently just before the UFA on 7/1
2) At the time we mentioned that any deal of this magnitude would take time IF it were to happen at all. It was unlikely to happen before most of the big FA's were 'purchased'. That time has passed so IF that deal would happen the timing would be more likely to happen between now and prior to training camps in mid September.
i hope they dont get rid a hunter. he wuz one of our beter players last year. capoli was ok. i dont care if we get rid a him if we get sumthing good back. snow nows what he's doin
im happy with the other guys he got espeshally geran. he's gonna make a good captan. beter than the overpayed rushan
1) Signing alert: It appears the Isles and Chris Campoli have agreed on a three year contract today. No word if this means he is no longer part of any trade discussions.
Campoli just signed for 3 years. What does that say about your rumor? Anything? Could this be a 'sign and trade'? A 3 year deal prevents Campoli from being UFA eligible at the end of the contract since he'll be 26 years old, short of the 27 year old requirement. He'll also be short of the years-pro experience UFA clasification. Sounds like a valuable contract for any team that wants to trade for him. Might Snow have just made Campoli more valuable than he was yesterday at this time?
1) We haven't heard anything new, but it wouldn't make sense for the Isles to do a sign and trade. Another team could have as easily signed him to a similar deal.
2) You are correct in that this contract does go one year short of his UFA eligibility Haven't read any contract numbers, but if its a less than a 1 mil cap hit, and he plays big minutes, its a good deal for NY
3) If we were in Snow's shoes (no pun intended) we wouldn't trade an asset to get a player like Morris unless he came cheap (2nd rounder or less) or for Satan. We'd try to land a Markov and or Sutton.
Not sure why you're down on Morris. Care to explain? Markov sounds real good, but Sutton? He's definately big, but also kinda slow and gets caught out of position quite a bit. And he's already 32.
Did I ask you already why you're down on Morris? I'm puzzled by that one.
1) We're not 'down on Morris' as much as we believe that the Isles could get something comparable to his production at a much cheaper price tag in salary and cost of assets to acquire
2) He is now 4 years removed from his last decent offensively productive season. His last 3 season point wise have gone: 28,31,25.
3) Not terrible, but a guy like Campoli, who out pointed Morris 2 years ago as a rookie, might be a better bargain to retain than to trade away for a guy like Morris.
4) If Morris were an UFA, or offered for a bargain price we'd be OK with it, but not at a price for a decent NHL prospect
1) We like Sutton because he brings good leadership as well as a player who plays with an edge. He may not be fleet a foot(Neither were Hill or Witt for that matter)but he has traditionally been a (+) player so he can't be that bad defensively
25% of last year has secured their seats!!!!!!!! They have to do friggin something to establish excitement -- two summers in a row that the fans are embarrassed in their franchise.
